6/21/18 Graduated with a certification from the Mindful Yoga for Cancer program at Duke Integrative Medicine.

9/09/16 Certified Yoga Therapist.  One of the several hundreds in the world to be awarded the certification of this new and growing profession by the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Membership page: here.

5/03/16 Today, a student said to me that she wished the studio had more mirrors on the walls so that she could see herself more. I tried to explain to her that yoga is a "somatic" experience, in that one experiences the sensations directly, as herself, instead of from the audience's "view point". It also reminded me of what B.K.S. Iyengar once said: “Yoga is a mirror, to look at ourselves from within.”

9/13/15 Room J-201 is Miramar College's brand new dance studio and it has just become the new official location for our Sunday Yoga / Zumba classes. The J building is the college's Athletics Complex. Rm J-201 is right next to the fitness center. This studio has A/C, beautiful wood floor and two mirrored walls. See campus map.

9/12/15 In the the heat of San Diego’s ever-lasting summer, we are ready to ready to start the fall semester of our Zumba / Yoga classes at Huaxia. Location: Miramar College (10440 Black Mountain Rd), New Room - J-201,
Sunday 9:40-11:10

4/20/15 "Mindfulness is often spoken of as the heart of Buddhist meditation. It's not about Buddhism, but about paying attention. That's what all meditation is, no matter what tradition or particular technique is used." - Jon Kabat-Zinn

12/26/14 Bikram Yoga. The community is divided: haters and lovers, not just among people who practice various styles of yoga. The divide is just as deep among yoga teachers. Svami Svatmarama's The Hatha Yoga Pradipika can be used as a reference. Bikram says: You are never too old, never too bad, never too late and never too sick to start from the scratch once again.” No dispute here.

9/15/14 Today's Food For Thought - The physical world, including our bodies, is a response of the observer. We create our bodies as we create the experience of our world. - Deepak Chopra

2/24/14 After 6-month and 300+ hours of INTENSE study and practice, today we finished the 500-hr level Yoga Teacher training. YogaWorks provided us with a good program. More importantly, the personal time and effort required of us was tremendous. Such a focus is luxury. I treasure it.

9/5/13 The Carmel Country group is another Zumba / Yoga combo class, which started two years ago for those who can't attend my Sunday morning class on Miramar College campus, and for those who wanted to do it twice a week! Time: Thursday evening 7:30-9:00. 2013 Fall term starts this Thursday.

8/24/13 Started 500-hr level Yoga Teacher training. Have wanted to do this for many years. A 6-month commitment! Look forward to deepening my knowledge onad practice on teaching methods, yoga philosophy, pranayama, anatomy, and much more. Today and tomorrow are the "bridge weekend" by Yoga Work.

9/30/12 Huaxia Yoga and Zumba classes at Miramar College start the 2012-2013 term on Sunday, September 30. Time: 9:40-10:10 Zumba, 10:10-11:10 Yoga. Room A111. See all class dates.

1/02/12 New Year's Resolution Reinforced - Hypnotherapy for smoking cessation special offer: 2 sessions for the price of 1.

9/25/11 Huaxia Yoga classes at Miramar College start the 2011-2012 term today. Time: 10:10-11:10 AM and 1:30-2:30 PM. Right before AM Yoga, I also teach a half-hour Zumba class 9:30-10:10. All classes are held in Room A111.

4/30/11 For Quit Smoking and Changing Eating Habits, small group sessions are added to the continuing one-on-one therapy.

1/16/11 I found this little gem on netflix, a video called "Ashtanga, NY". It documented Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and his grandson (an incredible yogi) teaching in New York city. Many of their students, including actress Gwyneth Paltrow, were interviewed on how the practice had impacted their lives. It's an interesting documentary, perhaps especially for those who practice Ashtanga Yoga. It's 40 minutes long and can be watched directly online.

9/26/10 Huaxia Yoga classes at Miramar College start the 2010-2011 term today. Both AM and PM classes are in Room A111. A Zumba class has been added at 10:00-1:30.

4/1/10 All new Yoga students are required to take the first three 75-minute classes. This will allow a systematic introduction of Yoga and assessment for Yoga therapy.

3/29/09 I have just finished an Iyengar Yoga immersion course at The BKS Iyengar Yoga Centers of San Diego. The course was consisted of an Iyengar Yoga teachers training, weekend asana and pranayama classes, and a daily morning backbend practice, taught by senior Iyengar Yoga instructors Eddy Marks & Mary Obendorfer. I will now start to incorporate the Iyengar Yoga style and its class format into our Thursday evening class.

11/18/08 Leaving for India. Will stay at the Parmarth Niketan Ashram. Plan to participate its programs, but not exclusively. The town of Rishikesh is known as "The Capital of Yoga" for the world. I have gathered information on several ashrams, including the Yoga philosophy courses, meditation and Hatha Yoga classes they offer. Once there, I would like to explore, learn, and later share.

8/20/08 Back from China, again. While being there to see the Olympic games, I also took the time to meet with Yoga Journal China's managing editor. Yoga has certainly gained popularity in China. Participants there are about one generation younger than in the U.S. Their focus is different, too.

7/01/07 Back from China. New for this summer is a Saturday morning group yoga class from 8:45 to 10:00. Wednesday evening's class continues. There are two spots still open for Wednesday evening.

5/30/07 I will be in China for the publishing of a book I have written. Some promotion info can be seen here. (I wrote the book but not the promotion material, which I actually find a little embarrassing!) So I will be in Beijing and Shanghai, and probably Kungming until the end of June. In the past, when I was away from teaching yoga I always took yoga classes. This time, if I can escape from promotion obligations, I will be studying Qi Gong and share what I hope to learn with my students and clients when I return.

9/15/06 I hope you all had a wonderful summer. I was happy to see many of you in the monthly summer yoga workshops. Now, after the summer break, the following regular yoga classes resume:

5/10/06 Want to keep fit physically and mentally during the idle summer months? A once a month super yoga class with a specific emphasis of each may just be what you are looking for. I will be giving a 1.5-hour or 2-hour long yoga class on the third Saturday of May, the second Saturday of June, July, and August. R.S.V.P. required, in person, by email info@drwumindbody.com or phone (858-231-0963). Sign up early for special aromatherapy gift. Details here.

04/08/06 Health and Wellness Workshop by Drs. Richard Tran, Michelle Hsu, Shelley Wu. Saturday, April 8th, 11:00am-12:30noon at 6450 Lusk Blvd., Suite E-200, San Diego, CA 92121. Details here.

08/01/05 Just read a new study by researchers at University of Iowa and the Technical University of Aachen, Germany, which used a special brain imaging technology, called "functional magnetic resonance imaging" (fMRI), and found that hypnosis alters brain activity in a way that might explain pain reduction by hypnosis. Details here.

06/21/05 Summer is officially here, despite the typical San Diego June gray. Today is the first day of summer and the longest day of the year. Enjoy, be well and be happy. Namaste.

06/15/05 Several weeks ago, I had the honor to be interviewed by TimeWarner Cable Ch19's The Melody Show on the topics of Yoga, hypnotherapy and psychology, and my approaches to them. The interview was conducted in Chinese as The Melody Show is a Chinese community program. A small part of the interview will be aired on Thursday, June 16, at 8:00 pm. The major part is scheduled to air two weeks later – Thursday, June 30, also at 8:00 pm. There is a third part of the interview where Dr. Sharon Wu-Peng joined in. This part will air on a later date, yet to be determined.

06/14/05 Two group Yoga classes will have summer breaks:

- Sunday evening's Kids/Family Yoga will have three more classes on 06/19, 07/03, and 07/10. After the break, we will resume on 09/11 at the same time: Sunday evenings 6:30-7:30.

- Friday's Lunch Break Yoga will have the last class this Friday. I will let you know about the fall schedule.
- Private Yoga sessions will be scheduled as usual throughout the summer.

June 2-5, 2005 Along with 20 other Yoga teachers from various parts of the country, I attended a four-day Silver Age Yoga workshop held at the Pacific Athletic Club in Del Mar. Gerontologists and physicians from UCSD School of Medicine and other medical centers lectured on arthritis, osteoporosis, and pulmonary diseases, stress and other age related topics. The information was presented in the context of how Yoga teachers can best understand the health conditions in order to tailor their Yoga teaching. The organizers, renowned Yoga teachers Frank and Serpil Iszak, taught us how to teach seniors seated and chair-supported yoga postures while keeping in mind the benefits and contraindications of each posture. The workshop was tremendously helpful for a Yoga teacher like me, who was used to teach Yoga to physically able bodies. More and more, however, I realized that people who come to me to learn Yoga have many and varied physical conditions. I hope that my effort in further understanding these conditions will translate into better services to my clients.

01/29/05 Yoga Day USA 2005. Join us to experience Yoga's benefits: Both within the physical body and beyond to the mental, emotional and spiritual. Yoga Alliance launched Yoga Day USA in 1999 as a means to build awareness of Yoga throughout the community.

01/28/05 New class added: Friday's Lunch Break Yoga Class at 6450 Lusk Blvd, Ste E-200, San Diego, CA 92121 (2nd Floor Above Corporate Fitness Center). It's open to public. Everyone is welcome.
